The Crystal Ball team are somewhere up on cloud nine this week after returning home from a glitzy award ceremony at London’s Hilton Park Lane hotel on Thursday night (12th March).
The event is the mobile industry’s equivalent of the BAFTAs: the Mobile News Awards. This year’s event was attended by more than 800 mobile industry movers and shakers including EE, O2, Microsoft, Samsung and Sony to name but a few.
The event was hosted by ‘Pub Landlord’ Al Murray, and many of the guests agreed he was a fabulous host – the best for many years.
But for the Crystal Ball team, he wasn’t the highlight. Our highlight was our lone worker protection app, Mobile LWP, winning the top spot in the ‘most innovative product category’. The judges were blown away by the way it answers a real business need – the challenge of lone worker protection – and described it as “truly innovative”.
We’ve believed this for some time… And, of course, our customers tell us the same thing!
But to have the recognition from mobile industry leaders who all agreed that Mobile LWP was an innovative answer to a real business challenge was wonderful for all the team here at Crystal Ball who have invested so much time and effort into developing the solution. As well as thanking the Crystal Ball team, we also must thank our customers and partners who’ve helped to shape and promote the product as it has evolved.
The fact that another Crystal Ball app – Mobile Phone Track – made it into the shortlist of four finalists in the ‘most innovative product’ category on the night is testament to the hard work and vision of our development team.
What the judges said:
The judges were won over by the way Mobile LWP “answers an issue that affects many lone workers, company owners, family members.”
They further commented:
“Managing a lone worker with the associated legislative responsibilities is a challenge faced by many businesses. Crystal Ball’s solution goes a long way to solving this challenge. The cost of breaching health and safety legislation can be punitive and this innovative solution will help negate such incidents.”
“Smartphones have changed the playing field in the Lone Worker Protection market. There are many players. But not all of them have caught up with the regulatory changes. Crystal Ball has seen this gap and become a leader in developing an industry-grade product and crafting it for its customer channels.”
All in all, it was a great night.
