More than a third of companies are still not using telematics systems to help monitor their fleet – leaving themselves open to potential fines of up to £20m.
While 65% of businesses use telematics to monitor drivers and vehicles (according to the RAC Telematics Report 2016), a significant number are still relying on outdated methods or, more shockingly, are not monitoring their drivers and vehicles at all.
The consequences include potential health and safety breaches which could land companies in court facing fines of up to £20m if convicted under Corporate Manslaughter legislation.
To counter this worrying trend, we will be showcasing our cost-effective SmartCam solution – winner of the 2017 Fleet World Honour for ‘Innovation in Telematics’ – at the Fleet Show.
SmartCam combines fleet tracking and a 3G dashcam into a clever unit which is mounted on the rear-view mirror of a vehicle. It allows fleet managers to assess and improve driver behaviour through the high-quality video playback and analyse events from the camera – especially helpful when dealing with insurance claims.
SmartCam can also improve staff productivity and reduce vehicle running costs through its fully integrated GPS tracking solution.
We will also be showcasing MobileLWP; our lone worker protection solution which utilises smartphone technology in a simple app. This allows remote workers to remain in contact with their business to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. The app features a discrete panic alarm button, timed ‘welfare sessions’ for a worker to check-in, and live location updates to head office. There is also a Mobile Rescue version for workers in higher-risk locations which connects to a 24/7 monitoring centre.
